About The Museum of Art Monterey
The Museum of Art Monterey, founded in 1959, is mandated with inspiring the appreciation of California art from the past, present, and future. Located at 559 Pacific Street, The Museum offers a collection of rotating exhibits and permanent exhibits that show early California paintings, Asian Art, Contemporary Art, and American Art. Current exhibits include: ‘What We See: Photographs by Women without Shelter’, ‘Repose: Paintings’ and ‘Edward Weston: Portrait of the Young Man as an Artist’. The permanent collection has some 14,000 items with some items from noteworthy artists like Pablo Picasso and photographer Ansel Adams.
Some yearly collections are grouped in photography, contemporary art, and the sort. You can visualize all these amazing art exhibits 11 AM to 5 PM daily except for Tuesday and Wednesday.
There is also another location of the Monterey Museum of Art, situated at La Mirada Street. It has more exhibits and a beautiful rose garden to explore as well.
